The CCP Virus sculpture, which began construction on October 26, 2020, and was completed on June 4, 2021, is a new sculpture. The entire statue is approximately 27 feet tall and made of reinforced steel and fiberglass. Created by artist Chen Weiming, the sculpture is made by his younger brother Su Lide at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in Beijing, together with one of the founding members of Liberty Sculpture Park, Zhao Yongkui, photographer Jonas Y, and volunteer David Jen.

The faces on the front of the sculpture show Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on the right face, and on the left face, an evil skull with dark, merciless eyes and large, grimy teeth; on the back, a giant virus and a sickle and axe.

In early 2020, a new coronavirus outbreak occurred in Wuhan, China, and instantly enveloped the world. To date, there have been countless deaths and injuries globally due to the outbreak, and the economic damage is incalculable, and it was the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organization led by Xi Jinping that started it all. Through the virus incident, it further reflects that under the CCP system, anti-humanity, disregard for life, and erosion of freedom are happening all the time.

The CCP Virus was originally created to remember the global epidemic that has not yet ended, and moreover, to remind the public that "the CCP's underreporting of the epidemic has led to the spread of the virus across the globe, and that the totalitarian ideology of communism is the most dangerous virus in the world." "All sources of evil come from the Communist Party, and without the Communist Party there would be no virus or death." Chen Weiming said that the epidemic caused by the Communist virus is not over yet, and that it is not a historical event, like June 4, which was thirty-two years ago, "This is an event that is happening now, and it is important to hit the Communist Party where it hurts, because the Communist Party brought the virus to the world. The United States is getting so bad now that the death toll from the virus has surpassed World War II, and we're going to use art to express this event."

On the night of July 17, 2021, the Communist Party Virus sculpture was vandalized. Behind the sculpture, a square opening was cut by a tool and a virus strain fell to the ground. Goggles and steel ropes were also scattered around the sculpture. Liberty Sculpture Park has called the police and reported the incident to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), while the police have taken evidence on the matter.

On July 23, 2021, at around 18:00, the statue of The CCP Virus was set on fire by criminals. Only the base of the statue and a strain of the virus that had not been completely burned remained of the giant statue, which originally stood 5 meters tall.

On March 16, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice reported on its website that the perpetrator of the arson attack on the statue had been arrested.
